Gosh, its been so long since I’ve posted that I don’t even know where to begin. The biggest news has been Taylor’s birthday and Nana and Pops visit. Both in the same week and both had Taylor very excited. We didn’t do a big party this year. With Nana and Pops coming we decided to wait and do most of the celebrating with them. On her actual birthday, Craig, Taylor and I went to the zoo where she got to feed the giraffe a couple of biscuits. The giraffe’s long tongue took her by surprise, I think, and she wasn’t quite sure what to do. I don’t blame her, actually. Giraffe’s tongues are creepily long…
After that, it seemed like it was her birthday ever day for the next 2 weeks! She had gifts pouring in from aunts and uncles, both set of grandparents, and cousins, too! Everyone was so thoughtful and the gifts were right on! We’ve been playing with playdoh and puzzles and dinosaurs and strollers and maaaann, the tea parties…. Here’s a glimpse at the aftermath: Today we got the mail and among the junk was a large manilla envelope. I sorted through it for a minute then we got back to playing one of the afore mentioned activities. I noticed that she kept looking at the mail, and I wasn’t sure what was going on until after about 3 minutes she announced, “I’m gonna open my present now, OK?” and proceeded to walk over to the manilla envelope and rip it open. Wow! This is not good…
The visit to the zoo on her birthday was only a warm-up for our trip to San Diego with Nana and Pops where we hit Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. I think Sea World was her favorite cause she got to pet the dolphins on their noses and she loved watching the whales through the glass. The shows seemed a little overwhelming for her, so we’ll have to go again when she can enjoy that even more.
Overall, though, it was a great trip! With the zoo and sea world crammed into 2 days, though, it was also a little exhausting. We loved having Nana and Pops visit. Taylor enjoyed Pops sneaking her chocolate every afternoon and Nana making her “Nana toast” (peanut butter toast) every morning. Needless to say, it was quite a bubble burst when they left. She’s not only still coming down from her sugar high, but her “spoiled rotten” high, too!
Its about time for us to slow down as well. It seems like the first half of this year has been full of “happenings”. From moving, to bachelorette parties, to Anne Maries wedding, to selling our house, and winding down with Taylor’s birthday and Nana and Pops’ visit—I feel like we’ve had our plate full for a while. Next weekend I’m headed to Louisville for my friend Molly’s wedding (a nice girls weekend that I’m looking forward to), and then things will really slow down for the second half of 2007. And, I gotta be honest, I’m looking forward to it.
Now I can start settling in here in Marana–hopefully meeting friends and getting involved in the community, which I’ve needed to do for a while. I’ll let you know how things progress. I hope everyone out there is well. Keep in touch and take care!
